UPS & FedEx GRI Updates
Both UPS and FedEx have announced their General Rate Increases (GRI) for 2025. Starting in January, base rates for shipping services will rise by an average of 5.9%.
That said, it’s not as simple as "add 5.9%” — different services and surcharges will vary, so it’s essential to stay informed and adjust your shipping strategies to avoid surprises.
Canada Post Strike Impact
If you’re shipping to or from Canada, you’ve likely faced delays. The Canada Post strike has now passed 27 days, with over 55,000 workers affected. Negotiations are ongoing, and there’s no clear end in sight. For now, consider alternate carriers or backup plans to keep your shipments moving smoothly.
Shipping Losses and Theft Trends
Shipping theft and losses have been on the rise. The increase in porch piracy and cargo theft has made it even more crucial to have comprehensive insurance and proactive risk management in place.
